Setting up Lock #2

< Previous                                                                                           Next >

So I just got my second lock.

Working on getting it set up.

What better way to do quality control on my posts than to follow my own directions?

Starting with https://mikehampton.blogspot.com/2020/11/kwikset-912.html

And it looks like I did good.  This time I did not have to reboot.

I went to Configuration > Devices after doing the first two steps...

And saw my new lock!

I changed the name and checked to see if it would lock/unlock, and it did.

Now I could really benefit from the other work I did.

Upon inspection, I found that the node_id of the lock was 4.

In my script (in https://mikehampton.blogspot.com/2020/11/adding-way-to-set-door-codes-part-3-use.html). I had set the node_id for the 'Colorado Room' to three, because I did not yet have the lock (bad guess...but what is #3?  Well, save that for later).  So now I need to change it.

In Configuration > Scripts

I edit "Set Door Lock Code"
I "Edit as YAML"

And change the "Colorado Room" to 4 - (note that I left the "English room" at 4 as well, I will change that when I get to that lock).

I save the script.  Then go to my "Door Controls" dashboard.

Now I select "Colorado Room", select the code slot #3, and set the code to 3333.  Than I select "Execute"

And it worked!  I am pumped.

Maybe in the near future I will set up Alexa...
